Loop Composition Task

I wanted it to be very relaxing and not too fast, with a reasonably thin texture, and I think I achiever this pretty well. Most of the loops I used came from the "chill wave" genre. The song is at 90bpm, which is a comfortable walking speed, and in common time for a simple and familiar time signature.

I used an electric piano loop as the central part of this backing track. I also used a simple electric drum loop throughout the majority of the piece. In the chorus and outro, you can also hear a pad synth and a lazily hummed vocal melody.

I made use of many different effects to make my song interesting and to help create structure.

In the introduction, the electric piano part has a low pass filter and a 3-band EQ plugin. This makes it sound muffled, and I contrasted this in the chorus and outro by removing both filters, allowing for more clarity.

Also in the intro, I put a distortion filter on the drums, as well as another EQ one. The drums slowly faded in to help build up tension. In the chorus and outro, I brought down the intensity of these, yet again adding to the clearer sound.

I put distortion, reverb, and EQ on the pad synth to dampen it and cut out the higher frequencies that I didn't like. I also added a low pass filter and reverb to the vocal parts.
